Tanya Witt, Esq.
Attorney Tanya Witt earned her law degree from Harvard Law School in 1994. A double Ivy League graduate, she attained her undergraduate degree magna cum laude (“with great honor”) from the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Witt is admitted to practice law in both Illinois and North Carolina. Ms. Witt is experienced in high net worth and international family law matters. She has represented a retired NFL player, provided strategic consulting on a multi-billion dollar divorce, and successfully represented numerous other high net worth individuals. Attorney Witt has successfully handled various international family law matters involving parties or assets in Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Peru, and Scotland. Ms. Witt has represented clients in “gay divorce” and transgender cases and she filed the first contested same-sex divorce case in DuPage County, Illinois. Ms. Witt is a board member of the Harvard Law Society of Illinois. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association. From 2010 to 2012, Ms. Witt wrote a column for Chicago Lawyer Magazine that discussed cutting-edge issues in the business of boutique law firm practices. Her articles have also been published in the Daily Law Bulletin, including the Law Day edition which is mailed to every attorney in Illinois. Today’s Chicago Woman (“TCW”) magazine published Ms. Witt’s article on Illinois gestational surrogacy law. Ms. Witt has instructed attorneys for the Chicago Bar Association. Prior to founding her own practice in 1998, Tanya Witt practiced law in the Chicago office of Baker & McKenzie, one of the world’s largest international law firms.
